Interested in Storage Auctions?

Most of our team members would agree that planning for an auction is our least favorite task of running a storage facility. It's never a good day when someone is unable (or unwilling) to pay rent for their storage unit. We make every effort to contact the customer who has defaulted and work with them to get and stay current. An occasional auction is inevitable and following is what you need to know if you are interested in attending a storage auction.
  • If you would like to be notified of any upcoming auctions, get us your name and phone number. We will contact you as auctions are scheduled.
  • Our auctions are fairly casual affairs but before bidding, you must agree to a few ground rules:
  1.  Payment for a unit must be made immediately following an auction.
  2. The unit must be completely emptied and swept clean the same day as the auction. If this is not possible, a bidder may rent the unit on a month to month basis.
  3. There is no dumpster or trash disposal on the property, so all items must be hauled away.
  • Customers have up until the time of the auction to pay their bill. This means that an auction could be cancelled at the very last minute.
Those are the main points and here is how a storage auction generally goes:

Bidders arrive at the facility and check in at the office. You will be asked to provide your name and contact information and sign an agreement listing our ground rules. Everyone walks to the unit(s) to be auctioned and one of our team members will open the unit door. Bidders are given the opportunity to look things over but may not enter the unit or rummage through items. Our facility representative will entertain bids until a clear maximum bid has been reached. After all the units are auctioned, the buyers head back to the office to remit payment for the units they are purchasing. The buyers are then given access to the facility for the day. Auctions are scheduled in the morning hours and most buyers have no problem emptying the unit by the end of the day.
